New Year gong for Dr Sarah Jarvis

Congratulations to MJA member Dr Sarah Jarvis who has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours for services to general practice and public understanding of health.

Sarah has more than 30 years’ experience in the NHS, and over 26 years as a GP — and is currently practising in a busy west London surgery.

She is probably best known as health and medical reporter for The One Show, on BBC1, but Sarah is also a regular guest on The Jeremy Vine Show and has a plethora of roles including clinical consultant for health website Patient UK, medical adviser to Drinkaware andhas chaired the Health Care Committee of HEART UK, the cholesterol charity.

Between all that she has also written seven books including Diabetes for Dummies (Wiley), Women’s Health For Life (Dorling Kindersley), and The Welcome Visitor (Hodder and Staughton), a book about ethical dilemmas at the end of life, co-authored with the broadcaster John Humphrys.
