The 2016 HealthWatch Debate at Kings’: “This house believes sugar is harmful, so ALL sugary foods should be taxed, not just soft drinks.”

HealthWatch UK is a charity that has been promoting science and integrity in medicine since 1991. Its annual debate takes place on Monday 23 May at King’s College London, Franklin-Wilkins Building, Waterloo Campus, London SE1 9EH.

Comedian Robin Ince will chair a panel of four eminent health speakers who will debate the proposition.

Audience members will be asked to vote on the proposition both before and after the debate.

Panel members are:
– Dr Aseem Malhotra, Honorary Consultant Cardiologist, Lister Hospital Stevenage, and Advisor to the National Obesity Forum
– Dr Carwyn Rhys Hooper, Institute of Medical and Biomedical Education, St George’s, University of London
– Professor Richard Tiffin, Professor of Applied Economics, University of Reading.
– David A Bender, Emeritus Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry, University College London

18.30 onwards – arrival and registration
19.00 – 20.15 – debate
